Assignment 2: (Educational apps and personal apps)

Assignment 3:

The educational app that I am going to share is Confer Lite. This is an app that the teacher would use to take notes about their students. You can save 2 subjects on the free version ($9.99 for the Confer version). I added 8 students in each subject, but I'm sure there are limits on that as well. I would use this for reading and writing workshop because it is an easy thing to type in and keeps your notes on students so organized. You can also search by date, name, tags, etc. I like that you can put the goal for the student and level they are at.

Assignment 4 (Audiobooks/ebooks):

Educational audiobook:

Pittu, David (2008). The 39 Clues, Book One: The Maze of Bones. New York: Scholastic.
(I have this book for my son, but it is a little hard for him right now. This would be good for him to listen to on a car ride. I heard it is a great book and I would also use it as a read aloud in class.)

Personal iBook:

Handler, Chelsea (2011). Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me. Los Angeles: Grand Central Publisher.
(Love her show and have one of her other books. She a little edgy but funny.)

Assignment 5 (Podcast):

Stories for Kids:
I found a great set of podcasts that feature different short stories that are read and focus on different comprehension strategies. Most list a grade level with them, but not all. I like that they say what strategy that are good for and the grade makes it very easily searchable. One example of an episode was a reading of Casey at the Bat. This is a fifth grade level story. There are lots of others available also.

Assignment 6 (iMovie):

I did 2 movies with my class for this assignment. One was a procedure video about how to do a literature discussion appropriately. I had the class show how we choose a topic, read and research it, and then do a literature discussion. I will use it to show my students how to do this next year. My second video was a In 3 Words video where I had each student write 3 words to describe their year and recorded each one holding up their 3 words. It will be a great reminder of how their 5th grade year went.

Assignment 7 (Reflection):
